Hi! My name is Amira Shabason and I am the owner and creative director of Kenilworth Floral.
I got my start in flowers working as a gardener in my hometown of Caledon, Ontario during my summer breaks while studying Art History at Concordia University. When I moved back to Toronto from Montréal in 2013 I started working part-time as a florist, and eventually secured a job at Coriander Girl, where I spent four amazing years honing my artistry and learning from some truly amazing mentors. In 2017 I turned 30 and decided it was time for me to leave the nest, flap my little wings, and start Kenilworth Floral.
Evoking the wildness of an English garden and the drama of a Dutch Master's painting, my approach to floral design draws on my past experiences in both landscaping and the fine arts. Wherever possible, I try to offset the environmental toll that the cut flower industry takes on our environment by using local product and foam-free mechanics in my designs.
